Nov
2nd 2002
The church building was dedicated by our diocesean bishop
Rt.Rev.Dr.Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa on this day.
The occassion was marked with a large gathering of our
members and other friends and families. It was a day
that all members of the parish were thankful to God.
For it was only by His abundant mercy and grace we could
secure a place of worship of our own.
The ceremony started
with the bishop praying at the door and thus leading
the parish into the new church building. The scene can
be thought like the time when the heavens door are about
to open for the church and then the time of lasting
worship and communion with God for eternity is about
to commence. It can be also thought as the preparation
for bridal march that is to come. The whole ceremony
was pomp and grand.
Thanks be to God
that we have so many of our dedicated members who with
their prayer and contributions has made this event possible.
Behind the scenes of purchasing the church were the
building committee and others who toiled very hard and
spent a lot of their time and resources. For the things
we do here on this earth, we are assured of an inheritance
in heaven. The ex-Vicar Rev. Kurien Thomas and the present
Vicar Rev.George K John were instrumental in leading
the parish to accomplish this good work.
There were families
from Los Angeles Mar Thoma church who drove all the
way to honor and give support to us on this memorable
day in history. The treasurer of Farmer's Mar Thoma
Church from Dallas was also present.
The first church
souvenir was also released by the bishop. The first
copy was presented to Santa Clara Ammechi by the bishop,
while Sam, Dolly and Dr. Ninan presented another copy
of the souvenir to the bishop. The dedication service
was followed by a fellowship dinner.
